2012 SCHEEL'S GLVC Tournament Central

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.- A running layup by the Lady Panther's Bianca Barton with 1.6 seconds on the clock lifted #7 seed Kentucky Wesleyan to a 73-71 win over #2 seeded #15 Wisconsin-Parkside in 2012 SCHEELS GLVC Women's Basketball Tournament action Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Panthers (17-12) pulled of the day's second upset behind a whopping 39 points from their bench, led by Barton's 13 total. The game-winner was set up after Wisconsin-Parkside tied the ballgame with six seconds left on a Jadee Rooney layup. Barton put the ball in on a drive up the left side of the rack, giving the Rangers a sense of deja vu, as it was Barton who put in the last-second bucket giving KWC a 68-67 win in Wisconsin Dec. 1.

The Rangers (22-5) held a 36-30 lead at the half, behind 43 percent shooting as a team and 11 points from All-GLVC First Team member Jadee Rooney.

In addition to Barton's 13, both Kristen Rowe and Karly Rhoads put in a dozen for the Lady Panthers, while T'Essence Phelps added 10. Brittany Beyer finished with a game-high 20 points for the Rangers, while Rooney had 18 total for the game.

Kentucky Wesleyan advances to a Saturday matchup with #6-seeded UIndy, which also pulled of a Thursday upset in the day's first game. The Lady Panthers and Greyhounds will meet at noon Saturday at the Prairie Capital Convention Center.
