SPRINGFIELD, Ill.- Top-seeded Bellarmine stayed in the hunt in defense of its GLVC Touranment title from a year ago with an 82-62 win over #8 Lewis Friday evening at the Prairie Capital Convention Center.
The Knights (25-2) led by as many as 29 in the contest, including a 42-26 advantage that they took into the halftime lockerroom.
Lewis (17-11) bows out of the 2012 SCHEELS GLVC Men's Basketball Tournament, with GLVC Freshman of the Year Ryan Jackson leading the Flyers in the loss with 21 points. All-GLVC Second Team honoree Chris McClellan adding 17.
Bellarmine was paced by 28 points from All-GLVC First Team selection Jeremy Kendle, with Chris Dowe adding 13 points and grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. Luke Sprague, a 2012 All-GLVC Second Team choice, also added 11 for the Knights in the win.
In advancing on in GLVC Touranment play, Bellarmine will meet the winner of UIndy/Southern Indiana in Saturday nights's 8:30 semifinal.
