ASHLAND, Ohio- The #17 Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers out-scored regional six-seed UIndy 36-28 in the second half en route to a 73-66 win over the Greyhounds in the first round of NCAA Division II Regional play at Ashland Friday. Jadee Rooney tallied all 19 of her game-high total for UWP (23-5) in the second half, including a perfect 11-for-11 effort at the free throw line. In addition to Rooney's total, Jenna Endish tallied 13 off the Ranger bench with Brittany Beyer adding 12 and Amy Selk chipping in 10. Kristin Turner led the Greyhounds, which end their 2011-12 season with a record of 19-11, with 15 points, with Katy McIntosh adding 14 and Nickole Gonser adding 10. The Rangers advance on in the Regional to face Ferris State Saturday.
Ferris State 74, Drury 56 - BOX SCORE | DU RECAP
ASHLAND, Ohio- The seven-seededDrury Lady Panthers bowed out of NCAA postseason play with a 74-56 loss to GLIAC-foe and No.2 seed Ferris State in Regional play Friday. Bethanie Funderburk's 15 points led the Lady Panthers, which end the season 20-8, while Lauren McCurry added 14 off the Drury bench in the loss. The trio of Kelsey DeNoyelles, Sarah DeShone and Tricia Principe led the Bulldogs with 17 points each.
#2 Ashland 87, Maryville 62 - BOX SCORE | MU RECAP
ASHLAND, Ohio- Host and top-seeded Ashland topped eight-seeded Maryville 87-62 in first round Regional action Friday evening. The Saints finish their season 19-12, and as the GLVC Touranment champions. Maryville was paced by 15 points from JoAnn Thompson in the loss, while Erica Lorton added 10 points off the Maryville bench. The #2 Eagles were led by Jena Stutzman's 29 points.
Quincy 75, Northern Kentucky 65 - BOX SCORE | QU RECAP | NKU RECAP
ASHLAND, Ohio- Five-seeded Quincy took a 75-65 win over four-seed Northern Kentucky in NCAA Regional play Friday night. The Lady Hawks (22-7) were paced by 30 points and 11 boards from Ali Schwagmeyer, while Kassidy Shuman added 15 and Linsay Henke put in 11. The Norse, which finish their season at 21-7, were led by GLVC Player of the Year Casse Mogan's 20 points and eight rebounds, while Kelsey Simpson added 11 in the loss. With the win, Quincy advances on to face top-seeded and nationally-ranked #2 Ashland Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
