REGIONAL RESULTS
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The University of Indianapolis has advanced to the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships after securing fourth place at the NCAA Division II Midwest/South Central Regional this past Wednesday at the Jefferson City Country Club in Jefferson City, Mo. The Greyhounds fired an 880 (296-295-289) to earn one of the five automatic bids to the national tournament.
Robert Gleixner (78-72-70—220) paced the Greyhounds, tying for 19th overall. GLVC Player of the Year Aaron Monson (72-75-74—221) finished 26th, while David Frank (74-81-69—224) was 30th and Max Bowling (77-73-76—226) was 44th. Jacob Yocum rounded out the UIndy lineup in 71st at 230 (73-75-82).
UIndy will now prepared for the NCAA Championships -- a 20-team, 108-man event that will be held May 16-19 at The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky., part of the 2012 Division II Spring Championships Festival.
Two other GLVC squads competed at the regional as Northern Kentucky finished tied for seventh at 890 (292-304-294) and Bellarmine was 12th at 898 (296-307-295). The Norse were led by Michael Schmidt, who turned in a tournament-low final round 67 to place tied for sixth overall at 217 (75-75-67). Bellarmine’s Bryan Ratterman placed one shot behind in a tie for 10th at 218 (72-73-73).
