FINDLAY, Ohio - The University of Indianapolis women's golf team has advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships following an East Super Regional win this past Tuesday. The Greyhounds earned a 16-stroke victory over Grand Valley State with a winning 54-hole score of 911 (300-307-304) at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio.

UIndy sophomore Amy Thompson took home medalist honors with a 217 (70-75-72), storming back from four strokes back to beat out Drury's Katrina Choate, who finished second at 220 (71-70-79). Choate’s finish also advanced her to the NCAA Championships where she will compete as an individual.

Drury finished fourth at 939 (306-313-320), Missouri-St. Louis tied for sixth at 952 (320-320-312), and Southern Indiana placed ninth at 970 (323-324-323). The Tritons were led by Shweta Galande (79-74-78--231) in 11th, while USI was paced by Audrey Mayer (78-79-79--236), who tied for 14th.

The GLVC- and now regional-champion Greyhounds have racked-up a program-record eight team titles this year, including winning an amazing seven of eight spring events. UIndy's trip to the D-II finals will be its third in the last four seasons, with this year's championship tournament being held at Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky., May 16-19.

The Hounds placed ninth in the nation in 2010 after tying for third in 2009.
