YPSILANTI, Mich. - The University of Indianapolis has advanced to the 2012 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship game after a wild 21-14 victory over Rockhurst University on Saturday. Today's contest was a rematch of the GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament semifinal in which UIndy's Phil Wheeler no-hit the Hawks to advanced to the GLVC Championship game. The Greyhounds set season highs in a number of categories, including runs (21), hits (22), runs batted in (18), and total bases (32). Patrick Kraft got the win to improve to 3-0 on the year and was the only one of the game's nine pitchers to toss more than 2 2/3 innings. Getting his first start of the tournament, catcher Brandon Stevens was one of three Greyhounds with at least four hits and two RBIs. T.J. Dailey, Derrick Jones and Jordan Stull each had three hits among the Hawks’ 17 hits. Stull drove in a team-high three runs. The Greyhounds last made the regional final in 2009 before losing back-to-back one-run games to Grand Valley State. UIndy's only World Series appearance came in 2000 when the club won two games to finish in third place nationally.
Grand Valley State eliminates NORTHERN KENTUCKY, 5-0 | BOX | RECAP
YPSILANTI, Mich. - Anthony Campanella spun a three-hit shutout for Grand Valley State to post a 5-0 victory and eliminate the Northern Kentucky University baseball team from the NCAA Tournament on Saturday. Campanella (8-2) struck out three batters and allowed just two Norse base runners to reach second base, and none after the fourth inning. Mike Nastold suffered his only loss of the season, falling to 3-1 on the year, giving up five runs, only one of them earned, on four hits and five walks over 3.2 innings. Brett Loeding fanned four batters in 4 .1 innings of relief for the Norse. Jake Morris, Bradley Vanderglas and Brad Clement collected NKU's three hits, all singles. NKU concludes its final season in Division II with a record of 36-22. The Norse will reclassify to Division I and compete as full members of the Atlantic Sun Conference beginning in 2013.

YPSILANTI, Mich. - After starting the day with a 21-14 shootout loss to Indianapolis, Rockhurst has earned a rematch with the Greyhounds following a 10-5 elimination win over Grand Valley State. The Hawks will now have to defeat UIndy twice on Sunday for the 2012 NCAA Midwest Regional title and a trip to the NCAA Division II College World Series.
