GLVC Releases Schedule & Fan-Friendly Website for “GLVC Football Kickoff 2013”

INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has released the schedule along with a fan-friendly website for the second-annual GLVC Football Kickoff event, which will take place in St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday, July 31. The website, which can be found at GLVCsports.com/GLVCkickoff, combines several social and traditional media platforms to allow both the conference’s media and fan base to interact with the eight GLVC football head coaches and eight student-athletes that that will be at the Millennium Student Center on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. CT.

Each head coach and student-athlete will rotate through a number of 10-minute stations designed to promote GLVC football on various platforms, including a live stream video press conference, an interactive Cover It Live interview with media and fans, engaging video interviews that will be uploaded to the GLVC’s official YouTube page, an Instagram photo shoot, as well as responses to submitted questions from fans who join the GLVC Football Kickoff 2013 event page on Facebook (GLVC Football Kickoff 2013 Facebook Event Page).

Throughout the week and during the event, the conference will be using the Twitter to promote the 2013 season on its official Twitter account (@GLVCsports).  The GLVC will be using the hashtag #GLVCkickoff and encourages its schools and fans to do the same.  In addition, the league will release the 2013 GLVC Preseason Poll on Twitter over the course of the first hour of the event.  New to this year’s schedule will be “Twenty on Twitter,” which concludes the online event with all eight coaches and eight players tweeting live on both their personal and school’s official athletics Twitter accounts from 12:50-1:10 p.m. CT.  Over those final 20 minutes, the conference participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts on the event, tweet photos from the day, or answer any final questions from fans using the hashtag #GLVCkickoff on select accounts, including @UIndyAthletics, @rbartolomeo, @KWCPanthers, @McKBearcats, @minersports, @SandTFootball, @QUHawks, @SJC_Athletics, @SJCPumaFootball, @TrumanAthletics, and @WJCSportsNet.

During the rest of the event, each coach and student-athlete will take part in several interview sessions. When they reach the live video stream station, the team representatives will spend 10 minutes previewing the upcoming season while coverage of the press conference will be streamed live through the GLVC Football Kickoff website for all fans to watch free of charge.

Teams will also take part in a Cover It Live chat, which is embedded on the event website. While at this station, each coach and player will interact in real-time with the league’s media members and fans, who are encouraged to submit questions and well wishes for their favorite team.

Fans will also have a chance to get to know the conference coaches and players on a personal level as GLVCsports.com will go “4 Downs” with each team in a video clip that will uploaded to the league’s YouTube page (TheGLVC).

Making a popular return from last year is the GLVC Instagram station, where coaches and players will pose for multiple pictures that will be instantly uploaded to the GLVC Football Kickoff website as well as GLVC Instagram account (GLVCsports). Fans can immediately post those pictures to Facebook and Twitter accounts and share them with all of their friends.

Media members attending GLVC Football Kickoff 2013 will also be involved in the station rotation, as each GLVC football team will spend at least 10 minutes with reporters from print, radio and television outlets throughout the conference footprint.  Additional one-on-one time will also be made available during the event as needed.

A photo gallery featuring the day’s activities, as well as group pictures of the head coaches and student-athletes in attendance, will also be available on GLVCsports.com following the event.

The players and coaches scheduled to attend the GLVC Football Kickoff 2013 are Indianapolis head coach Bob Bartolomeo and senior quarterback Chris Mills, Kentucky Wesleyan head coach Brent Holsclaw and sophomore defensive back Cuda Dimmett, McKendree head coach Mike Babcock and senior offensive lineman Richie Rebmann, Missouri S&T head coach Tyler Fenwick and junior wide receiver Leon Moody , Quincy head coach Tom Pajic  and senior defensive lineman Cory Connolly, Saint Joseph’s head coach Cory Sanders and senior quarterback Billy VandeMerkt, Truman State head coach Gregg Nesbitt and redshirt sophomore defensive end Devin Gillespie, and William Jewell head coach Jerod Kruse and senior quarterback Sean Shelton.  Also in attendance will be GLVC Commissioner Jim Naumovich and GLVC Supervisor of Football Officials Mike McCann.
