THIS FEATURE WAS REPOSTED ON MAY 31 AFTER SOUTHERN INDIANA CAPTURED ITS (AND THE GLVC'S) SECOND-EVER NCAA BASEBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!
This is the 31st installment of a series of 35 moments, milestones, and facts that will be featured throughout the 2013-14 academic year to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
It has been nearly four years since the University of Southern Indiana accomplished something that no other NCAA Division I, II or III schools within state lines had done before. Despite facing adversity by being shorthanded at the start of the 2010 NCAA Division II Championship, the Screaming Eagles captured its first and the Great Lakes Valley Conference's first-ever national title in the sport of baseball.
USI head coach Tracy Archuleta has returned the program to glory this season as the GLVC East Division Champion and No. 1 seed in the GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament, which is being played at Bosse Field just 15 minutes from campus. The 2014 GLVC Coach of the Year, who has also guided the Eagles to a top-10 national ranking and the top-ranking in the current regional rankings, talked with GLVCabout the Eagles' magical run four years ago and trying to maintain that national success today.
