INDIANAPOLIS – Quincy University senior Ashley Burton has garnered the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s only spot on the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) All-America Team, it was announced Wednesday (Dec. 9). The teams are nominated and selected by the nation’s sports information directors.

The postseason awards continue to pile up for Burton with this second-team honor after picking up National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-American second-team laurels last week, which was following her selection to the NSCAA and D2CCA All-Midwest Region first-teams. She was voted to the All-GLVC First Team as well.

This is the second time in the senior’s career she has been a consensus All-American, having been named both a NSCAA and Daktronics (now D2CCA) All-American in 2012.

Burton rounded out her career with a superb season in 2015, leading the GLVC with 14 goals and 34 points. She also had a career-high six assists, recording the assist on QU’s lone goal in a 1-0 win over Missouri-St. Louis in the NCAA Tournament first round.

The St. Louis native ranks fifth on the school’s all-time scoring list with 41 goals. She is also fifth with 95 career points. Burton helped the Lady Hawks to three NCAA Tournaments in her career and back-to-back GLVC championships in 2012 and 2013. She is just the fifth player in league history to be named to the All-GLVC First Team all four seasons and was a consensus all-region player each season. Burton was the GLVC Freshman of the Year in 2012.
