GLVCSN Interviews: Allison Koester (USI) | Stefaniya Ivanova (UMSL) | Chanice Young (UINDY)

WATERLOO – University of Missouri-St. Louis sits atop the leaderboard in round one of the 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Golf Championships, which is being held at the Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Illinois, for the sixth-straight year.

The Tritons’ 301 (+13) is just three strokes better than second-place Southern Indiana (304), and the University of Indianapolis sits another four strokes behind the Screaming Eagles at 308, entering Saturday’s second round.

USI sophomore Allison Koester leads all players with a one-under-par 71, the only player to card a sub-par round. In the 2014 Championships, teammate and then-sophomore Anastasia Carter was the lone player to shoot a sub-par round the entire 36-hole meet. This year, Carter finished round one 11th at +5 (77).

Trailing closely behind Koester is UMSL’s Stefaniya Ivanova with an even-par 72, and UIndy’s Chanice Young is just one-over par (73). There are 23 players in the top 20; three players are tied for fourth and four players are tied for seventh, 12th, 16th and 20th.

Despite the threat of severe weather on Saturday, the Championship will proceed as planned, beginning at 8 a.m. CT.
