EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The top two seeds, No. 1 University of Missouri-St. Louis and No. 2 University of Indianapolis, have advanced through today’s games and will meet in Sunday’s Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Championship finals at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois, beginning at 12 p.m. Central Time.

The Tritons and the Greyhounds both found their way to championship Sunday, but they did it in two very different ways. UMSL has played three games all weekend – one today and two Friday – while UIndy played three must-win games today alone, accounting for five total after opening the tournament with two games on Friday.

In its lone contest today, UMSL shut out No. 6 seed Lewis 3-0 as Hannah Perryman got another win in the circle. Indianapolis, on the other hand, faced No. 4 seed Truman State to start the morning and earned a 7-0 shutout win with Morgan Foley on the rubber. Following that game, the Hounds faced No. 8 seed Rockhurst and tacked on another shutout, this time 3-0 past the Hawks. In what was a very quick turnaround, UIndy then took on No. 6 seed Lewis, and after being down 2-0 early, the Greyhounds produced a five-run fourth inning and never looked back, extending the final score to 11-4.

Earlier in the regular season, UMSL and UIndy split a doubleheader as the Hounds won 3-2 in game one and the Tritons bounced back for a 6-1 win in game two.

If UIndy wins the first matchup on Sunday, a second game will be played immediately following in order to decide the 2015 Softball Tournament Champions.

The Championship game(s) will be streamed live on the GLVC Sports Network at GLVCsports.com/watch, and live stats will be available as well.
