INDIANAPOLIS – Southwest Baptist University sophomore quarterback TJ Edwards and McKendree University senior defensive end Lucky Baar and senior kicker Steven O’Block have earned Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TJ Edwards, Southwest Baptist

Team Result: 61-37 win at Saint Joseph’s
- Threw for 330 yards on 26-of-43 passing (60.5%) and four TDs (17, 32, 7, 17 yards)
- Rushed for 96 yards and three TDs (2, 24, 8 yards)
- Accounted for seven of the SBU’s eight touchdowns
- Led SBU to five straight touchdowns on first five possessions
- Current total of 24 passing TDs ties for fourth in SBU single-season history
- Helped SBU tie school record with seven wins on the season

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

- Recorded eight tackles and team-high three quarterback sacks
- Helped McKendree post eight sacks and limit Miners to just seven points – a team that led the GLVC in scoring offense entering the day
- His three sacks increased career total to 42.5, which is 3.5 sacks of all-time NCAA Division II career record
- Guided unit to just 255 total yards allowed, marking a season-low for a Bearcat opponent this year
- Earns his fifth Defensive Player of the Week award (10/5/15, 11/17/14, 11/3/14, 10/20/14)

- Accounted for 16 points on the day, marking a new school single-game record
- Matched GLVC and school record with four field goals (35, 31, 28, 30 yards), all of which came in the second half
- Boosted career total to 248 points, five points away from school record of 253, set by Stephen Webb from 2002-05
- Averaged 47.5 yards on eight kickoffs with one touchback
- Earns his second Special Teams Player of the Week award (9/28/15)
