INDIANAPOLIS – Three Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Soccer players and one Women's Soccer player have been named as Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Americans, it was announced Friday (Dec. 1).
Three Rockhurst University student-athletes made the men's list with senior forward Kaleb Jackson earning second-team recognition along with senior midfielder Adam Michel and senior defender Connor Mullen being named honorable mention picks, while Bellarmine University senior goalkeeper Taylor Smith was named to the All-America Second Team on the women's side. Mullen was a 2016 third-team honoree, while Jackson was named to the 2016 honorable mention squad.
A total of 39 men's student-athletes were recognized on the three All-America teams, with an additional 19 earning honorable mention. Twenty-seven schools are represented on the first three teams. For the women, a total of 52 student-athletes, representing 34 different institutions, filled out the three teams and the honorable mention squad.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men’s and women's soccer selected the D2CCA All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team All-Region picks advancing to the national ballot.
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
