This Week in GLVC Women's Basketball: Feb. 13-18

McKendree and William Jewell will open the week with a makeup game that was rescheduled from earlier in the season due to a severe weather postponement. On Thursday, teams will then return to divisional play for the last full weekend of games that is featured on Thursday will be Lewis (20-5, 12-3), the second-place team in the East Division, at Indianapolis (14-11, 8-7), the fourth-place East team. Saturday will be highlighted by Drury's (22-3, 14-1) trip to Missouri-St. Louis (13-10, 8-7), the first and third-place teams in the West.

William Jewell won the rescheduled contest Monday night over McKendree, 55-38. Three Cardinals scored in double figures, while Maddie Nelson led the way with 16. WJC moved to 8-7 in the GLVC and into a tie for third with Missouri-St. Louis in the West Division.

Indianapolis used a 19-11 fourth-quarter advantage to come back for the 59-55 win over Lewis, while Flyers' Jamie Johnson scored a game-high 25 in the loss.UW-Parkside's Brittney Fair went for 29 points to lead all scorers and the Rangers to a 69-67 win over Saint Joseph's on the road. Truman held William Jewell to nine points in the first quarter, as Cassidy Clark tallied a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds to help the Bulldogs to a nice 67-51 win that tied the two teams in fourth in the West. Jordan Fletcher had 20 and 10 in UMSL's 64-51 win past Missouri S&T, while other winners included Drury and Rockhurst over Maryville and Quincy, respectively. Elsewhere, Bellarmine took care of McKendree with an 80-69 win, and Southern Indiana extended its league-best scoring margin in an 85-57 win over Illinois Springfield.

In the second-to-last regular season contests, Southern Indiana clinched the outright GLVC East Division title, while Drury won again but had already claimed the title in the West. Additionally, four teams clinched a bye in the first round of the GLVC Championship Tournament, including USI (15-2 GLVC), Drury (16-1), Bellarmine (13-4) and Lewis (12-5). The other eight teams joining those four in the postseason event were also officially decided and include Rockhurst (11-6), Indianapolis (9-8), Missouri-St. Louis (9-8), William Jewell (9-8), Maryville (8-9), UW-Parkside (8-9) and Saint Joseph's (7-10). UW-Parkside put itself in a position to potentially host the first-round game with an impressive road win at Indianapolis, 66-62, a team now one game ahead of the Rangers in the East. Truman State also picked up a huge 87-61 win over West second-place Rockhurst to give itself the same possibility, depending on the outcome of next Thursday's final games. Elsewhere, Saint Joseph's also knocked off Lewis in a 76-70 home win to claim the last spot in the GLVC first round.
