INDIANAPOLIS – The 2017 Deaconess GLVC Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament bracket was released by the Conference office Thursday evening following the finale of the 2016-17 regular season. Twelve of the league’s 16 schools advanced to the postseason tournament, with four schools earning first-round byes. The remaining eight teams will open the postseason tournament on campus Sunday with hopes of advancing to the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana, March 2-5.

Bellarmine (25-3, 17-1 GLVC) earned the East Division crown and the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament. The Knights will join No. 2 seed and West Division champion Quincy (24-5, 14-4), No. 3 Southern Indiana (25-3, 15-3), and No. 4 UW-Parkside (21-6, 13-5) in Evansville and await their opponents from Sunday’s first-round games.

No. 5 Indianapolis garnered its eighth GLVC Championship Tournament appearance in a row, winning a tiebreaker over Truman State with its road win against the Bulldogs on Feb. 2, 94-86. The Greyhounds were the No. 4 seed last year and fell in overtime of the semifinal round. UIndy finished fourth in the East Division this season and will host No. 12 Missouri-St. Louis at 3:15 p.m. ET Sunday in Indianapolis. The first-round game marks a rematch of the Jan. 5 contest in St. Louis that saw UIndy win 64-57. The Tritons earned their way into the final seed over William Jewell due to their 4-6 divisional record compared to the Cardinals’ 3-7 mark.

Truman State (20-8, 12-6) posted its fourth straight GLVC Championship Tournament bid and earned the No. 6 seed after being beaten out by UIndy in the tiebreak scenario. The Bulldogs will host No. 11 Missouri S&T on Sunday at 3 p.m. CT in Kirksville, Missouri. Earlier this year on Jan. 28, the Miners defeated Truman on the road, 96-91, and return to the league’s postseason event for the fourth time after missing the last two.

The defending GLVC Champs and No. 7 Lewis (16-12, 11-7) earned its 11th straight appearance to the championship affair and will welcome No. 10 Saint Joseph’s to Romeoville, Illinois, Sunday at 3 p.m. CT. The Pumas earned their seed after winning a tiebreaker over S&T due to their home win against Parkside a week ago on Feb. 16, 84-79. The Miners fell to the Rangers at home, 72-54, on Jan. 7. Lewis and SJC met twice in 2016-17, first to open the season on Dec. 1 and then again this past Saturday, Feb. 18, splitting the respective results with each winning on their home courts.

No. 8 Drury (17-9, 10-8) and No. 9 Rockhurst (14-12, 8-10) will do battle in Springfield, Missouri, on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT. The Panthers return to the postseason for the 11th time and garner their eighth consecutive berth with two Conference titles in 2008 and 2015. Rockhurst makes its second straight tournament appearance and sixth overall. The Hawks will be looking for redemption after falling to Drury by a narrow margin, 70-68, on the road Jan. 21.

Following Sunday’s four first-round contests, the winners will be reseeded Nos. 5-8 and placed against the tournament’s top four seeds.  Times for the four quarterfinals, which will take place Friday, March 3, will be announced by the Conference office late Sunday evening or Monday morning.

Both the men’s and the women’s semifinals will commence on Saturday, March 4, as the men take to the court at noon and 2:30 p.m., followed by the women at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The men’s GLVC Champion will be crowned at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, followed by the women’s final at 3:30 p.m.
