INDIANAPOLIS – McKendree University senior middle distance runner Quincy McSweeney and Lewis University senior sprinter/jumper Cierra Pulliam have been named the first Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the 2018-19 season, it was announced by the Conference office Tuesday.
WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Quincy McSweeney, McKendree
Sr., Middle Distance, Eureka, Illinois
Major: Biology, Education
Team Competition: NTS, Vanderbilt Home Opener
- Broke McKendree’s 20-year-old mile record with a time of 4 minutes, 57.50 seconds
- Effort eclipsed her personal best by more than 10 seconds and achieved an NCAA provisional mark
- Time is currently the top mark in NCAA Division II and sixth across all divisions
- Earns third career GLVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor (12/13/16, 12/12/17)

WOMEN’S INDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Cierra Pulliam, Lewis
Sr., Sprinter/Jumps, Plainfield, Illinois
Major: Exercise and Movement Science
Team Competition: 4th, 65 points, St. Ambrose Frigid Bee Invite
- Opened with a win in the triple jump with a leap of 13.10 meters (42’ 11 ¾”), which equaled her personal best from last year’s NCAA Outdoor Championships
- Effort also marked a program record and an NCAA automatic qualifying standard
- Mark currently ranks first in NCAA Division II
- Secured an NCAA automatic qualifying mark in long jump with a winning effort of 6.16 meters (20’ 2 ½”)
- Established new personal best, school record and nation’s top mark in the event this year
- Earns fourth career GLVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor (12/6/16, 1/18/17, 2/14/17)
