For the third time this season, Lewis University junior Jessica Kelliher has been named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Women's Division II National Player of the Week for the week ending February 11.
The forward was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week for the sixth time this season after notching her ninth and 10th double-double of the season with an average of 30 points and 11 rebounds per game, helping the Flyers to two league wins and their sixth-straight season with 20 or more. The Waukesha, Wis., native also shot 72% (28-for-39) from the field and added 4.5 steals, 3.0 assists, and 3.0 blocks per game.
In last Thursday's 75-66 win at Maryville, Kelliher scored 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had five blocks. In a 75-63 win Saturday against UW-Parkside, she dropped 37 points for the second time this season and also scored a season-high 17 baskets of her 22 attempts, shooting 77% from the floor. She also collected 12 rebounds and added her 10th double-double this year.
Kelliher, who was also named the USBWA Women's DII National Player of the Week for the week of January 7 and 21, leads NCAA Division II in scoring with 25.2 points per game and is third in field goal shooting percentage at 66 percent.
