INDIANAPOLIS – University of Southern Indiana senior distance runner Bastian Grau and Missouri S&T senior thrower John Karsten have been named the final Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week of the 2017-18 season, it was announced by the Conference office Tuesday.
MEN’S INDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Bastian Grau, Southern Indiana
Sr., Distance, Hochstadt, Germany
Team Competition: NTS, Arkansas Qualifier
- Won the mile in 4 minutes, 4.51 seconds, which ranks tops in the GLVC and 10th in NCAA Division II, including third among non-adjusted times
- Fourth career GLVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor (1/18/17, 1/24/17, 1/23/18, 2/20/18)
- Last Southern Indiana Indoor Track Athlete of the Week: Bastian Grau (1/23/18)

- Reset his own school record with a heave of 18.31 meters in the weight throw
- NCAA Provisional qualifying mark is currently ranked 27th in Division II
- Currently ranks second in the GLVC in both weight throw and shot put
- First career GLVC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honor
- Third straight Miner to garner weekly accolades
