Top Seeds Advance to GLVC Women’s Tennis Championship Semifinals

SPRINGEIELD, Mo. – Semifinal action for the 2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament has been set for Saturday, following four quarterfinal matches on Friday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Missouri. All four of the higher seeded teams advanced to the semifinals, including Bellarmine University, Drury University, University of Indianapolis, and University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Bellarmine, the top seed in the East, defeated the West’s fourth seed Rockhurst University, 5-0, in the only shutout of the day in Match #1.

In Match #4, No. 2 East Indianapolis got the near-sweep with a 5-1 victory over No. 3 West Maryville, as the Saints #3 doubles pair earned the team’s lone point.

#1W Drury topped #4E Lewis University before #2W UMSL got the result over #3E University of Illinois in the last completed match of the afternoon.

The Knights will now meet the Tritons and the Panthers will face the Greyhounds in Saturday’s semifinals, as both matches will begin at approximately 1 p.m. CT. Streaming on the GLVC Sports Network will occur for the Drury-UIndy matchup at GLVCSN.com, the iOS/Android mobile apps, or on the GLVCSN iOS/Android mobile apps, as well as on the Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV OTT platforms.  

Semifinal winners will advance to Sunday’s championship contest, with the start time set for 12 p.m.
