INDIANAPOLIS – The bracket is set for this week’s 2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, which will return for the second year to U.S. Baseball Park in Ozark, Missouri, May 10-13.

The University of Illinois Springfield (45-5, 23-1 GLVC) claimed the outright GLVC East Division title and will be the No. 1 East seed in this year’s event, while Drury University (29-21, 20-8) picked up the GLVC West Division crown and enters the postseason as the No. 1 West seed.

No. 2E Bellarmine University (34-15, 16-8), No. 3E University of Southern Indiana (29-19, 15-9) and No. 4E University of Indianapolis (28-21, 10-14) have qualified for the tournament out of the East, while No. 2W Quincy University (35-15, 19-9), No. 3W Maryville University (27-23, 19-9) and No. 4W Missouri S&T (25-24, 15-13) will represent the West.  Quincy edged out Maryville for the No. 2W seed based on a 2-2 record against Drury, while Maryville was 1-3.

The tournament’s opening contest will feature No. 3E Southern Indiana and No. 2W Quincy on Thursday at 9 a.m. CT.  The two teams met in a three-game non-conference tilt back in March, with Quincy taking the series, 2-1.

The second game features the other No. 2/3 matchup with No. 3W Maryville battling No. 2E Bellarmine at 12:30 p.m.  The Knights outscored the Saints 27-8 in a doubleheader sweep in St. Louis on March 17.

The final two games on Thursday will feature our top seeds.  At 4 p.m., No. 4E UIndy faces No. 1W Drury in the first meeting between the two programs this season.  In the 7:30 p.m. finale, No. 1E Illinois Springfield takes on No. 4W Missouri S&T, a team that fell at home to the Prairie Stars 17-4 on April 25.

Friday and Saturday action will feature four games at the same times – 9 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 7:30 p.m. – with Sunday’s championship contest based on “if necessary” games.

Tickets for the 39th annual conference tournament are $10 for adults, $8 for students, and $5 for children, while kids 5-and-under are free. The GLVC is offering an All-Tournament pass for $35.
