2017-18 Academic All-GLVC Recipients
INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced Tuesday that the 2017-18 season marked the second time in league history that more than 2,900 student-athletes have garnered Academic All-GLVC distinction. A total of 2,929 honorees have been recognized, which ranks second to the league’s all-time high of 2,975 set last year.
The Academic All-GLVC honor is bestowed upon student-athletes who meet a cumulative GPA of 3.30 over two semesters of an academic year at the institution.
The list of honorees features students from the following sports: baseball (284), men’s basketball (75), women’s basketball (158), men’s cross country (107), women’s cross country (129), football (201), men’s golf (103), women’s golf (80), men’s lacrosse (62), men’s soccer (223), women’s soccer (294), softball (199), men’s swimming and diving (107), women’s swimming and diving (121), men’s tennis (84), women’s tennis (85), men’s track and field (179), women’s track and field (199), volleyball (173), and wrestling (66).
Not counting the 36 honorees from football associate members Lincoln University (11) and Southwest Baptist University (25), as well as the 36 recipients from men’s lacrosse associate members University of Alabama Huntsville (9), University of Montevallo (10), Shorter University (5), and Young Harris College (12), the 2,857 honorees from 15 full-time GLVC members averaged out to 190 selections per school, which broke last season’s record average of 184. Over the course of the last five years, the per-school record averages have been 124 (2012-13), 147 (2013-14), 151 (2014-15), 160 (2015-16), and 184 (2016-17).
