INDIANAPOLIS – Lindenwood University sophomore quarterback Cade Brister and Missouri S&T senior defensive end Tershawn Wharton and senior kicker Ben Styron have earned Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cade Brister, Lindenwood

Major: History
Team Result: 34-27 win vs. No. 8 Indianapolis
- Completed school-record 38 of 59 pass attempts for a school-record 541 yards
- Threw three touchdown passes (13, 53, 21 yards) to three different receivers
- Helped three receivers boast more than 100 yards each in the game
- Netted 13 rushing yards on the ground to total school-record 554 total yards
- Recorded a 3-yard rushing touchdown as time expired in the first half
- Guided Lions to 602 yards of total offense
- Earns second career Offensive Player of the Week award (10/7/19)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tershawn Wharton, Missouri S&T
Sr., DE, University City, Missouri
Major: Psychology
Team Result: 62-0 win vs. Southwest Baptist
- Led Miners with eight tackles, including six solo stops
- Recorded 2.5 quarterback sacks
- Returned a fumble 81 yards for a touchdown, his second return for a score in his career and S&T’s fourth defensive touchdown this year
- Helped S&T’s defense hold SBU to 272 total yards and secured its first shutout since Oct. 1, 2016
- Earns his third career Defensive Player of the Week award (10/30/17, 9/10/18, 11/4/19)

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ben Styron, Missouri S&T
Sr., K, Harrisonville, Missouri
Major: Civil Engineering
Team Result: 62-0 win vs. Southwest Baptist
- Recorded 14 points by making all eight of his extra points and both field goal attempts
- Made field goals from 37 and 40 yards away; the latter was the 10th of his career of 40 yards or more, which is a school record
- Became the first placekicker in GLVC history to score 300 points in a career, increasing his total to 305 points
- Earns his second career Special Teams Player of the Week award (9/4/17)
