INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference saw 13 of its 15 student-athletes garner a total of 16 All-America honors this past weekend at the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, which took place at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Student-athletes earned first-team U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-America honors by virtue of finishing among the top eight in their events, including as a member of a relay. Second-team honors were bestowed upon those who finished ninth through 16th in their individual events, or on a relay team that finished ninth or 10th.
Bellarmine University senior Yashira Rhymer-Stuart earned the national title in the women’s high jump, becoming the school’s first-ever NCAA Champion after securing her fifth All-America accolade with a winning leap of 1.77 meters.
Three GLVC standouts earned multiple All-America nods, including University of Indianapolis senior throwers Austin Hogan and Katie Monk, as well as Lewis University senior jumper Cierra Pulliam.
In the women’s competition, Indianapolis led the conference contingent placing 13th overall with 14 points, followed by Lewis with 14th with 13 points. Bellarmine tied for 21st with 10 points and Missouri S&T tied for 32nd with five points. On the men’s side, UIndy tied for 46th with three points.
