INDIANAPOLIS – Semifinal action for the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament has been set for Saturday, following four quarterfinal matches on Friday inside the UIndy Tennis Center. All four higher seeded teams advanced to the semifinals, including University of Indianapolis, Drury University, Lewis University, and University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Sixth-ranked Indianapolis, the top seed in the East, shutout the West’s fourth seed Rockhurst University, 4-0, in Match #1. The other sweep of the day went to the top seed in the West, 30th-ranked Drury, as it defeated the East’s fourth seed University of Southern Indiana by the same score in Match #3.
No. 2 West Missouri-St. Louis got past No. 3 East University of Illinois Springfield, while the final match of the night was a barnburner. It was #2E and 48th-ranked Lewis pitted against #3W Maryville University, and the two teams took nearly five hours to determine a winner. Lewis opened with the doubles point before extending its lead to 3-0 with a win at No. 1 and No. 4 singles.
