Tournament Bracket
OZARK, Missouri – Bellarmine University and the University of Illinois Springfield successfully advanced through the winner’s bracket and will meet Sunday in the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Baseball Championship Tournament final, being held at U.S. Baseball Park in Ozark, Missouri.
The seventh-seeded Knights (32-19, 20-13 GLVC) held off two-time defending league champion Quincy University 8-4 in Saturday’s nightcap to advance to their first tournament final in six years. In 2013, Bellarmine defeated Drury 2-1 at Bosse Field in Evansville, Indiana, for its third GLVC title in program history. The Knights also have the 1980 and 1989 league titles to their credit.
No. 2 Illinois Springfield (37-14-1, 21-12 GLVC) advanced to its first tournament final in school history after eliminating No. 2 Maryville University, 3-2. UIS has allowed just 15 hits and four earned runs during its three tournament games.
The Knights and Prairie Stars concluded their respective regular seasons against one another, with Bellarmine outscoring UIS 24-11 in a three-game sweep at home, May 5-6.
In Saturday’s earlier tournament action, Maryville eliminated sixth-seeded University of Southern Indiana 7-6 to earn the contest with the Prairie Stars. On the other side of the bracket, Quincy advanced to meet Bellarmine after an 11-8 victory over No. 5 Drury University.
