HAMMOND, Ind. – One of Division II’s largest events, the Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover Tournament, is coming to the Hammond Sportsplex this weekend with 58 matches being played by 38 teams from three different conferences.
The Great Midwest Athletic Conference, Great Lakes Valley Conference, and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, have partnered with the South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority to make the 2021 version a reality.
Ten different courts for six different sessions will be utilized in the spacious facility with fans welcomed to attend and cheer on their respective programs. Admission will be taken at the gate with cash being preferred for admittance.

The Crossover Tournament is designed to give teams an opportunity to play against regional competition to enhance their season resume for the national committee during the NCAA Championship selection process.
The 2020 event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic following the 2019 edition, which was held in Indianapolis.
Each conference seeded their member institutions while taking account their current place in the conference standings and utilization of the Massey Ratings, a performance-based rating analytic of methodology.
Hillsdale is the top seed in the Great Midwest, Lewis is the No. 1 seed from the GLVC, and Michigan Tech is the No. 1 seed from the GLIAC.
The Great Midwest has 12 competing institutions, the GLVC has 15, and the GLIAC carries 11 into this year’s event. The first session starts at 11 AM CT on Friday morning followed by sessions at 2:30 PM CT and 6 PM CT. Each team is guarnateed three matches against opponents from other conferences.
Saturday’s tournament action gets underway at 9 AM CT with additional sessions slated for 12:45 PM CT and 4 PM CT to wrap things up.
At the conclusion, the Midwest Region Crossover All-Tournament Team will be announced with eight selections from the GLVC and six each for the Great Midwest and GLIAC.
