GLVC Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament Bracket Set

Championship Central | Tournament Bracket

INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) released Sunday the bracket for the 2021 GLVC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. McKendree University earned the top seed in the eight-team tournament and will serve as one of four hosts in the postseason quarterfinal contests, which take place next Sunday, November 7. Second-seeded Drury University, No. 3 Truman State University, and No. 4 University of Indianapolis will also host first-round action.

Seedings for this year’s postseason were set to be based on a point system, where a win earned three points and a tie earned one; however – per GLVC soccer policy – since not all teams played the complete 14-game schedule, an averaging system was utilized to determine seeds.

Top-seed and GLVC Regular Season Champion McKendree finished with a 10-2-2 league record, earning 32 total points and 2.29 points per game and having just come off the COVID-19 spring-shortened season with both a Regular Season and Championship Tournament trophy in April. The 25th-ranked Bearcats, set to make their seventh consecutive postseason trip and eighth overall, will play host to No. 8 University of Missouri-St. Louis (6-6-2, 20 points, 1.43 points/game) in Lebanon, Ill., on Sunday for a quarterfinal matchup at 12 p.m. Central Time. The Tritons will be competing in their 16th league event overall but first since 2016. The teams just played this afternoon in St. Louis with McKendree winning, 3-1, to secure its top seed.

Drury (10-3-1, 28, 2.15), which is receiving votes outside the latest United Soccer Coaches top-25 poll, returns to the GLVC event for the ninth time but first since 2015 with its highest-ever seed at No. 2. The Panthers will welcome No. 7 Lewis University (7-5-2, 23, 1.64) on Sunday, Nov. 7 in Springfield, Mo., at noon Central Time. The Flyers missed out on the spring postseason but appeared most recently in back-to-back years in both 2018 and 2019. On Oct. 22, Lewis earned an upset win over then-24 Drury, 1-0, in Romeoville.

Truman State (9-2-3, 30, 2.14) will test its Conference-best, five-game win streak as the 3-seed against sixth-seeded Missouri S&T (7-4-3, 24, 1.71) on Sunday, Nov. 7 in Kirksville, Mo., at 1 p.m. CT. The Bulldogs extend its streak of earning a bid to the event every year since joining the league in 2013, while the Miners clinched just its third-ever bid to the postseason with the other two coming in 2010 and 2014. The two teams battled early in the season on Sept. 19 in Rolla, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

No. 4 Indianapolis (8-2-3, 27, 2.08) returns to the Conference dance for the 18th time overall and third in a row and will welcome 5-seed University of Southern Indiana (8-5-1, 25, 1.79) in Indianapolis, Ind., at 12 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, Nov. 7. Screaming Eagles will play in their 16th GLVC affair and sixth in a row, having claimed their first-ever title in 2019. The two teams played each other in the second league game of the season on Sept. 17 that saw UIndy win 1-0.

Each of the four quarterfinal winners will advance to the GLVC Championship Tournament semifinals, which will be hosted on the campus of the highest remaining seed. The two semifinal contests will be played on Friday, Nov. 12, while the finals will take place Sunday, Nov. 14.

All GLVC Championship Tournament action will be streamed live and free on GLVCSN.com, the GLVCSN iOS and Android mobile apps, and GLVCSN OTT apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV.
