The first goal came in the 54th minute in front of wide open net after a double assist from Browel Some and Rory Carlson, while the win was sealed in the 88th minute when Brinkman scored after getting a rebound off a shot by Anton Aduwa-Emovon.

Ricardo Andrade scored the game's first goal at 6:28 to put 11th-ranked Maryville up, 1-0, but Findlay Cook found the equalizer for McKendree at 59:20, which neither team could overcome through the rest of regulation and two overtime periods. In penalty kicks, the Saints fell behind early with two misses, but Maryville goalkeeper Nick Hemann made two big saves against the first five shooters to keep the match alive. Carter Reiss stepped up to the spot needing to make his penalty to prolong the game, and he buried it into the left side. The Saints and Bearcats both rattled off six consecutive makes to push the score to 9-9. Hemann then stopped the next shot to setup a redemption shot for Dom Riggio, who missed his first attempt, but wouldn't be denied with a blast straight up the middle.
