INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis and Truman State University will meet in the first-ever Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Football Championship on Saturday, April 24, after their victories this weekend to win the East and West Divisions, respectively. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern Time from Key Stadium in Indianapolis.

UIndy, which claimed the East with a dominating 51-23 triumph over McKendree University on Saturday, finished the spring with a pair of wins. Looking for their seventh league title, the Greyhounds will host Truman for the 2021 spring trophy as a result of a random draw prior to the season.

The Bulldogs capped their spring slate with a perfect 3-0 record following their 46-27 win at Missouri S&T on Thursday. Truman averaged 39.3 points per game this spring, while allowing 20.7 points on defense. The Bulldogs won their only league football title in 2016, when they shared it with Southwest Baptist University.

UIndy holds the edge over Truman in the all-time series, 6-1, with the Bulldogs' lone victory coming during their 2016 title run in Kirksville, Mo. Four of those games have taken place in Indianapolis, including 2019's contest that ended in a 44-29 victory for UIndy.

Bryce Stancombe has led the Greyhounds under center this spring, passing for 600 yards on 47-of-61 passing and eight touchdowns. Daveon Bell has been a primary target for Stancombe, catching 17 passes for 212 yards. Defensively, Connor Steeb leads the team with 20 tackles, while Clay Schulte has recorded a pair of sacks.

Cody Schrader has paced the Truman offense, rushing for 386 yards and seven touchdowns on 70 carries. Ten different receivers have caught a pass from redshirt-freshman quarterback Nolan Hair, who has completed 59.7 percent of his passes in three games. Josh Scheiderer has connected on each of his three field-goal attempts and 13-of-14 PATs.

A total of 600 fans - 300 per team - will be permitted inside Key Stadium for the GLVC Football Championship. Wristbands will be sold as CASH ONLY for $10 to adults and $5 for students beginning at 6 p.m. Each school is required to provide a list of 300 names for will call; only those on the will call list will be allowed to purchase wristbands. The GLVC does not have the capability of selling wristbands in advance. There will be no complimentary admission/pass list for the game outside of University administration, as well as coaching staff spouses and children from both schools. Fans must be masked and practice social distancing while at the venue.
