LEBANON, Ill. – The top two seeds advanced to Sunday’s inaugural Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women’s Lacrosse Championship, as No. 1 Lindenwood University (13-0) and No. 2 University of Indianapolis (13-1) both dominated their respective semifinal at Leemon Field on the campus of McKendree University.
 
The top-seeded Lions and second-seeded Greyhounds square off on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT from Leemon Field for the inaugural GLVC women’s lacrosse title. Lindenwood upended UIndy on Thursday, April 22, in St. Charles, Mo., in the teams’ first meeting as the top-two ranked programs in the country. Sunday will mark the second battle, but this time Lindenwood tops the national coaches poll and UIndy ranks second.

The Lions jumped out to a 7-0 start in the opening 16 minutes of the first semifinal of the evening, before carrying a 9-1 lead into the break. Eight different players scoring in the first half, with Emma Arnold notching four points on three assists and a goal. After a short Hawks’ run early in the second half, Lindenwood eventually kept the clock running with a score from Gracie Pine with 13 minutes remaining. Overall, Arnold led the Lions with six points, while Erin McGuire joined her for the team lead with three goals. Hailey Dobbins was a force on defense, recording four caused turnovers, four draw controls, and three ground balls.

The Greyhounds opened up their own quick lead in the final contest on Friday, as four different players scored five times to force a McKendree timeout less than five minutes into play. After the Bearcats cut the deficit to three thereafter, UIndy netted nine of the next 10 goals to lead 15-4 at the break. In a low-scoring second half, the Greyhounds scored four more times before eventually advancing to Sunday’s final by a score of 19-6. Peyton Romig finished with eight points on three goals and five assists, while securing 14 draw controls. Seven players scored at least twice, with Quinn Malcolm also adding a hat trick. Netminder Cassidy King made eight saves on 13 shots on goal in 46+ minutes.
