GLVC Men’s Basketball Bracket Released for 2022 Championship Tournament



INDIANAPOLIS – The 2022 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament bracket was released by the Conference office Saturday evening, following the finale of the 2021-22 regular season. All 15 league schools will compete in the postseason tournament, earning their seeds based on the GLVC Point Rating System rankings. The tournament’s first round games will take place on campus sites Monday, Feb. 28, with the winners of those games advancing to First Community Arena at the Vadalabene Center on the campus of SIU Edwardsville, March 3-6.

West Division Champion and top-seeded Southwest Baptist University (21-5, 15-4 GLVC, 3.89 PRS) concluded the regular season with an 86-60 win over Quincy and enters the GLVC Championship Tournament as the No. 1 seed, earning a first-round bye. SBU will face the winner of No. 8 seed William Jewell College (13-14, 9-10, 2.92) and No. 9 seed Lindenwood University (12-16, 8-12, 2.88) on Thursday, March 3 at 6 p.m. Central Time in the first quarterfinal. The Cardinals and Lions will play Monday to determine who will be going to Edwardsville at 7 p.m. CT.

East Division Champion and 2-seed Lewis University (14-9, 12-5, 3.76) opens tournament play against No. 15 Maryville University (12-16, 6-14, 2.38) on Monday at 7:15 p.m. CT. The Flyers are coming off a loss Saturday afternoon to Missouri S&T after previously riding a three-game winning streak, including a win over top-seeded SBU. The winner of that game will take on the winner on No. 7 McKendree University (13-11, 9-11, 2.98) and No. 10 Quincy University (15-15, 8-12, 2.83) on Thursday, March 3, at 8:30 p.m. CT. The Bearcats and Hawks will faceoff Monday at 7 p.m. CT.

No. 3 seed Truman State University (21-4, 17-3, 4.30 PRS) will begin its postseason with a game Monday at home against 14th-seeded Rockhurst University (11-19, 6-14, 2.38) at 7:30 p.m. CT. The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with an 84-78 loss to the Hawks on Saturday but earned the 3-seed over University of Missouri-St. Louis after sweeping the Tritons in both meetings during the regular season. Rockhurst picked up the 14th seed over Maryville due to the Hawks beating the Saints on the road earlier in the season. Sixth seed University of Indianapolis (16-10. 10-8, 3.19) and No. 11 seed Missouri S&T (11-16, 7-13, 2.65) will go head-to-head in Indianapolis on Monday at 7 p.m. ET, which will result in the winner of that game facing off with the winner of the Bulldogs and Hawks in Edwardsville on March 4 at 8:30 p.m.

Central Division Champion and No. 4 seed Missouri-St. Louis (20-6, 14-5, 3.68 PRS) ended its regular season with a 72-49 win over McKendree University on Saturday afternoon. As the 4-seed, the Tritons will face No. 13 Drury University (10-15, 7-10, 2.59 PRS) in St. Louis on Monday at 7:30 p.m. CT before the winner heads to Edwardsville to take on the winner of No. 5 University of Southern Indiana (17-7, 12-6, 3.58) and No. 12 Illinois Springfield (12-16, 7-13, 2.60) on Thursday, March 4, at 6 p.m. CT. The Screaming Eagles and Prairie Stars will play Monday at 7 p.m. CT.

Both the women’s and men’s semifinals will commence on Saturday, March 5, as the women take to the court at noon and 2:30 p.m., followed by the men at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The men’s GLVC Champion will be crowned at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, following the women’s final at 1 p.m. 
 
All-Tournament passes are $45, while Session Flex Passes are $35, allowing access to any two of the first six sessions, excluding Sunday's finals. Single-session tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students with a valid ID and youth 6-17 in age, while children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult.
