Lewis’ Smith Voted GLVC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week



INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University sophomore Casey Smith has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Tuesday.

  • Helped Lewis to 3-0 week, including pair of GLVC road wins and 4-0 result against 72nd-ranked UIS
  • Went 3-0 at No. 3 singles
    • Gave up just one point in win over Roosevelt’s Grace Hahn 6-1, 6-0
    • Beat McKendree’s Maria Salomao 6-0, 6-2
    • Clinched match against UIS with come-from-behind win over Riann Hsu 3-6, 6-4, 6-2
  • Was 3-0 at No. 1 doubles with Nefeli Zafeiri
    • Beat Fabiloa Rivas and Maria Rivas of Roosevelt, 6-3
    • Won 6-2 against McKendree’s Camila Fonseca and Viola Cipriani
    • Topped UIS’s Sina Sjkelstad and Neha Mokhasi, 7-5
  • Earns first career Player of the Week award
