INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) had four teams in the NCAA Softball Tournament last weekend.
Lindenwood went 0-2 on the weekend losing to Drury in a 14-inning classic on Thursday afternoon and then lost to Southern Indiana Friday to end their season with an overall record of 35-13.
Drury went 1-2 on the weekend with their lone win coming in the previously mentioned 14-inning game against Lindenwood. The Panthers came back Friday with a game against Saginaw Valley State to start their day as they were shutout against the Cardinals. Drury had a shot to save their season and keep it alive against USI but fell to the GLVC Champions 9-3 to end their 2022 season with a 37-17 record.
Indianapolis picked up a win on their home field Thursday afternoon as the Greyhounds defeated Findlay 8-2. UIndy came back the next day to face Grand Valley State where they were shutout by the Lakers and were set to play Findlay for the second time in as many days, but the Oilers got their revenge on UIndy as they ended their season with a 5-3 loss. UIndy was ranked all-season long, rising as high as No. 2 in the country at one point, and finished their season with a 48-10 record.
GLVC Champion Southern Indiana bounced back from a loss to Saginaw Valley State to win the remainder of their games and clinch a spot in this week’s Super Regional. The Screaming Eagles picked up wins over Lindenwood and Drury on Friday and defeated Saginaw Valley State twice on Saturday to keep their season alive.
