INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) released Saturday night the bracket for the 2023 GLVC Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament. Regular Season Champion University of Indianapolis earned the No. 1 overall seed, while University of Illinois Springfield gleaned the second seed, William Jewell College was tabbed as the 3-seed, and Rockhurst University claimed the 4-seed. The Tournament is being held in St. Charles, Mo., at Hyland Arena for the first time from Thursday, Mar. 2 through Sunday, Mar. 5.
University of Missouri-St. Louis and McKendree University earned seeds 5-6, while Southwest Baptist University and Quincy University filled spots No. 7 and 8, respectively. The eight-team tournament is seeded 1-8 based on the GLVC Point Rating System (PRS) rankings.
Quarterfinal 1: #1 Indianapolis vs. #8 Quincy | Thursday, Mar. 2, 12 PM CT
- Indianapolis went 25-3 overall and 17-3 in GLVC action with a 4.45 PRS rating during the regular season, earning the GLVC Regular Season title.
- Quincy went 14-14 overall and 10-10 in GLVC action with a 3.28 PRS rating during the regular season.
- The Hawks defeated the Greyhounds 62-57 at home Nov. 26 before the Hounds bounced back for a 76-70 home win Feb. 4.
- UIndy is making its 40th appearance in the GLVC postseason and 14th-straight with one Conference title.
- Quincy is making its 20th appearance in the GLVC postseason but first since 2017 – with the exception of last year when all 15 schools qualified.
Quarterfinal 2: #2 Illinois Springfield vs. #7 Southwest Baptist | Thursday, Mar. 2, 2:15 PM CT
- Illinois Springfield went 19-9 overall and 13-7 in GLVC action with a 3.68 PRS Rating during the regular season.
- Southwest Baptist went 19-9 overall and 11-9 in GLVC action with a 3.40 PRS rating during the regular season.
- The Prairie Stars swept the Bearcats this season with a 63-61 home win Jan. 12 and a 79-78 road win earlier this afternoon, Feb. 25.
- UIS is making its seventh appearance in the GLVC postseason but first since 2016 – with the exception of last year when all 15 schools qualified.
- SBU is making its third overall and consecutive appearance in the GLVC postseason.
Quarterfinal 3: #4 Rockhurst vs. #5 Missouri-St. Louis | Friday, Mar. 3, 12 PM CT
- Rockhurst went 16-12 overall and 11-9 in GLVC action with a 3.53 PRS rating during the regular season.
- Missouri-St. Louis went 19-9 overall and 11-9 in GLVC action with a 3.48 PRS rating during the regular season.
- The Hawks beat the Tritons twice this season at home, 88-81, Jan. 5 and on the road, 85-77, Feb. 4.
- Rockhurst is making its 10th appearance in the GLVC postseason.
- UMSL is making its 19th appearance in the GLVC postseason after winning the 2022 Conference Tournament.
Quarterfinal 4: #3 William Jewell vs. #6 McKendree | Friday, Mar. 3, 2:15 PM CT
- William Jewell went 15-13 overall and 12-8 in GLVC action with a 3.63 PRS rating during the regular season.
- McKendree went 15-12 overall and 11-9 in GLVC action with a 3.43 PRS rating during the regular season.
- The Cardinals beat the Bearcats 77-55 at home Nov. 28 before falling on the road 68-64 Feb. 2.
- Jewell is making its sixth appearance in the GLVC postseason.
- McKendree is making its fourth appearance in the GLVC postseason.
The four quarterfinal winners will compete in the semifinals on Saturday, March 4, at 12 and 2:15 PM, while the semifinal winners will compete for the 2023 trophy on Sunday, Mar. 5 at 1 PM.
