McKendree, Newman, Maryville Claim GLVC Women’s Bowling Major Awards



INDIANAPOLIS – McKendree University graduate student Hope Gramly was unanimously selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Player of the Year, the league office announced Thursday. Newman University’s Kassidy Miller was named the Conference’s Freshman of the Year, while Maryville mentor Lauren Pate was voted Coach of the Year by her peers.
 
In all, 17 student-athletes earned All-GLVC recognition, while seven were named GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honorees, and McKendree University was honored with the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Team Award. Major award winners and All-GLVC teams are voted on by the league’s seven head coaches.

Player of the Year: Hope Gramly, Graduate, McKendree
  • Earns Player of the Year laurels for the third consecutive season, making it four in a row for the Bearcats, as Breanna Clemmer was the first-ever GLVC Player of the Year in the sport in 2020.
  • Led McKendree with a 215.1 Traditional average and 217.0 Baker average through 470 and 687 frames, respectively.
  • Recorded a 57.0 strike percentage, 89.8 fill percentage, 94.8 single-pin spare percentage, and 88.9 multi-pin spare percentage.
  • Helped Bearcats to 97-17 overall record, as well as top seed in GLVC Tournament.
  • Named GLVC Athlete of the Week on Oct. 28 and Nov. 11.
  • Earns four-straight selection to All-GLVC First Team.

Freshman of the Year: Kassidy Miller, Newman
  • Claims GLVC Freshman of the Year award in Newman's first season as league members.
  • Averaged 195.4 in 205 Traditional frames and 192.4 over 332 Baker frames.
  • Posted a 45.1 strike percentage, 82.9 fill percentage, 83.9 single-pin spare percentage, and 71.9 multi-pin spare percentage.
  • Named GLVC Athlete of the Week on Mar. 10.
  • Earns spot on All-GLVC Honorable Mention squad.

Coach of the Year: Lauren Pate, Maryville
  • Secures Coach of the Year honor in her first season at the helm, marking the third coaching honor for the Saints after Brandi Kordelewski won the last two.
  • Guided Maryville to a 90-40 record and the No. 2 seed in the GLVC Tournament.
  • Claimed runner-up finishes at both the Valpo Bowling Classic and Flyer Classic, as well as a third-place performance at their home invitational.
  • Ranked No. 8 in NTCA Poll.
  • Mentored Anna Maxwell to All-GLVC First Team distinction, Laura Bartelt and Natalie Heltne to the Second Team, and Brianna Schmidt to the Honorable Mention squad.

The Bearcat trio of Isabel Allen, Rebecca Hagerman, and Maranda Pattison joined Gramly and Maxwell on the All-GLVC First Team.
 
McKendree earned this year’s GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Team Award, while seven student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior were also recognized. These individuals must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees from full-time GLVC member institutions are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
