ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Top-seeded Lewis University won its ninth Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men's Soccer Championship trophy on Sunday, defeating second-seeded Maryville University in penalty kicks, 5-4, at Creve Coeur Park Soccer Complex in St. Louis, Mo.
Lewis secured its first Conference title since the 2007 season when they defeated Northern Kentucky University, 1-0. The Flyers exacted revenge for the 2022 GLVC Championship game where the Saints won in double overtime.
With the win, Lewis (11-2-8) earned the league's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament, its fourth-straight appearance in the postseason event. The Flyers will find out their opponent on Monday night's NCAA Selection Show at 6:30 PM ET.
