Field Announced for GLVC Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament

 

INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) released Saturday night the bracket for the 2024 GLVC Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament. Regular Season Champion Lewis University earned the No. 1 overall seed, while McKendree University gleaned the second seed, Drury University was tabbed as the 3-seed, and Maryville University claimed the 4-seed. The Tournament is being held in St. Charles, Mo., at Hyland Arena for the second time from Thursday, Mar. 7 through Sunday, Mar. 10.
 
University of Illinois Springfield and Rockhurst University earned seeds 5-6, while Upper Iowa University and University of Missouri-St. Louis filled spots No. 7 and 8. The eight-team tournament is seeded 1-8 based on the GLVC Point Rating System (PRS) rankings.

Quarterfinal 1: #1 Lewis vs. #8 Missouri-St. Louis | Thursday, Mar. 7, 12 PM CT
  • Lewis went 20-8 overall and 19-3 in GLVC action with a 4.23 PRS during the regular season to win the GLVC Regular Season crown.
  • UMSL went 13-15 overall and 11-11 in GLVC action with a 3.02 PRS during the regular season.
  • The Flyers swept the Tritons this season with a 70-66 road win Jan. 20 and a 61-56 home win earlier this afternoon, Mar. 2.
  • Lewis is making its league-best 38th appearance in the GLVC postseason and 16th in a row with five Conference titles to its name.
  • UMSL is making its 19th appearance in the GLVC postseason.

 Quarterfinal 2: #2 McKendree vs. #7 Upper Iowa | Thursday, Mar. 7, 2:15 PM CT
  • McKendree went 20-8 overall and 16-6 in GLVC action with a 3.93 PRS during the regular season.
  • McKendree earned the 2-seed over Drury in a tiebreaker due to going 1-1 against top-seeded Lewis, including a 71-69 OT win at Lewis Jan. 18, while Drury went 0-1 with a 72-69 road loss at Lewis Nov. 30.
  • Upper Iowa went 14-12 overall and 11-11 in GLVC action with a 3.11 PRS during the regular season.
  • The Bearcats and Peacocks split their home-and-home, as UIU won 84-75 in Lebanon on Jan. 3 and McKendree won 99-95 in Fayette on Feb. 3.
  • McKendree is making its sixth appearance in the GLVC postseason.
  • Upper Iowa is making its first appearance in the GLVC postseason in its first year as a league member.

 Quarterfinal 3: #4 Maryville vs. #5 Illinois Springfield | Friday, Mar. 8, 12 PM CT
  • Maryville went 18-10 overall and 15-7 in GLVC action with a 3.80 PRS during the regular season.
  • Illinois Springfield went 15-13 overall and 13-9 in GLVC action with a 3.41 PRS during the regular season.
  • The Prairie Stars won the lone meeting with the Saints on the road Nov. 30, 79-74.
  • Maryville is making its 11th appearance in the GLVC postseason and claimed a Conference title in 2012 during its first year of league membership.
  • Illinois Springfield is making its second appearance in the GLVC postseason, following the first in 2022.
 
Quarterfinal 4: #3 Drury vs. #6 Rockhurst | Friday, Mar. 8, 2:15 PM CT
  • Drury went 23-5 overall and 18-4 in GLVC action with a 3.93 PRS during the regular season.
  • Drury earned the 3-seed due to losing a tiebreaker against McKendree after going 0-1 versus top-seeded Lewis, including a 72-69 road loss at Lewis Nov. 30, while McKendree went 1-1 versus Lewis, including a 71-69 OT win at Lewis Jan. 18.
  • Rockhurst went 15-11 overall and 12-10 in GLVC action with a 3.16 PRS during the regular season.
  • The Panthers swept the Hawks with wins on Jan. 6 (77-49) at home and Feb. 8 (85-67) on the road.
  • Drury is making its 18th appearance in the GLVC postseason, having qualified every year since 2006 with a league-high 10 GLVC Championship Tournament titles, including the last seven in a row.
  • Rockhurst is making its fifth appearance in the GLVC postseason.
 
The four quarterfinal winners will compete in the semifinals on Saturday, March 9, at 12 and 2:15 PM, while the semifinal winners will compete for the 2024 trophy on Sunday, Mar. 10 at 1 PM.
