S&T, UIU Collect GLVC Football Weekly Honors

INDIANAPOLIS – Missouri S&T redshirt-freshman running back Evan Wells and the Upper Iowa duo of graduate student linebacker Trevor Thompson and sophomore kicker Nathan Behne have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Athletic Solutions Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Evan Wells, Missouri S&T

Major: Mechanical Engineering
Team Result: 29-10 W at McKendree (10/19)
  • Racked up 196 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries
    • Set GLVC and program record for longest play from scrimmage with a 99-yard touchdown run to put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter
    • Recorded most single-game rushing yards for S&T since 2017
  • Added two catches for nine yards
  • Earns first career Offensive Player of the Week Award

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

  • Made seven tackles, including three solo stops and one assisted tackle for loss
  • Nabbed an interception and returned it 29 yards on SBU’s second drive of the game
  • Helped hold the second-best GLVC rushing and scoring offense to season-low 36 yards and zero points
  • Earns first career Defensive Player of the Week Award

    • Nailed career-long, 49-yard field goal in the first quarter
    • Improved upon his career best with a 51-yard conversion in the second stanza
  • Kicked three punts for 161 yards (53.7/punt), including two 50-plus-yard boots
  • Earns second career Special Teams Player of the Week Award (11/18/24)
