Lewis, Two Individuals Qualify for NCAA Cross Country National Championships

KENOSHA, Wis. – Five Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) cross country teams finished in the top 10 during the 2025 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Saturday, Nov. 8. 17 other GLVC programs competed in the 10,000-meter and 6,000-meter races.

The 18th-ranked Lewis men's cross country team (120 points) finished third to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA National Championship. Drury (240) placed eighth, while Illinois Springfield (283) landed in the tenth spot to round out the top 10.

Missouri S&T (375) finished 15th, followed by Indianapolis (16th, 447), Southwest Baptist (21st, 607), Missouri-St. Louis (22nd, 621), Rockhurst (24th, 662), Maryville (25th, 719), Truman State (26th, 720), and McKendree (27th, 875).

On the women's side, No. 11 Lewis (90 points) joined the men's team in claiming third place and earning an NCAA automatic bid. SBU (235) joined the Flyers in the top 10, placing seventh.

Outside of the top 10 was Maryville (352) in 12th, followed by Illinois Springfield (394) in 13th, Drury (395) in 14th, Truman State (404, 15th), Indianapolis (486, 19th), Quincy (726, 25th), Rockhurst (734, 26th), and McKendree (866, 27th). Missouri-St. Louis also competed but did not record a team score.

The top-25 individual finishers were named All-Region honorees, and the GLVC had four in that group on the men's side with two from Lewis, one from Drury, and one from Indianapolis. GLVC Champion and Runner of the Year, Lewis' Evan Horgan, secured runner-up with a time of 30:21.77. Drury's Tyler Harris crossed the line in eighth (30:39.23), followed by UINDY's Felix Rivet (31:01.43) in 13th. Lewis’ Jack Roberts (31:25.37) finished in 20th to round out the All-Region spots for the league.

For the women, seven runners earned All-Region distinction. Lewis’ Mary Edwards led the way for the conference (21:08.03) in seventh, with GLVC Champion and Runner of the Year, Illinois-Springfield’s Maddie Miller-Ross (21:16.31) finished tenth. The Lewis trio of Josephine Bober (21:29.87, 15th), Madilyn Calloway (21:30.77, 18th), and Kate Guderjan (21:45.26, 23rd), were joined by Indianapolis’ Hailey Orosz (21:30.50, 17th), and Drury’s Cara Eckenroth (21:45.11, 21st) as the All-Region honorees for the GLVC.

Both Lewis squads automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships, as well as Drury’s Tyler Harris on the men’s side, and Illinois-Springfield’s Maddie Miller-Ross on the women’s side as individuals. The National Championship will take place Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
