INDIANAPOLIS – Upper Iowa's Kyle Hrncir has been selected as this week’s national player of the week in men's basketball by the NCAA Division II Conference Information Directors of America (D2CIDA) for the week of Dec. 1-7.

Hrncir averaged 23.3 points and nine rebounds per game to lead Upper Iowa to three wins to open its Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule, including a win over fifth-ranked Missouri S&T to close out the week. He started the week out with a 31-point, 10-rebound showing in a 96-92 overtime win at Quincy, where the Peacocks overcame a 16-point deficit with nine minutes remaining. Hrncir scored seven of his points in overtime, then followed that up with a 16-point, six-rebound effort with three assists in a 76-62 over Lincoln. On Saturday, Upper Iowa rallied from a 14-point deficit in the second half in the win over Missouri S&T, thanks to another double-double by Hrncir as he had a team-leading 23 points and 11 rebounds; he had 19 of his 23 points over the final 20 minutes. Over the three games, Hrncir made 51 percent of his field goal attempts (24-of-47), three-of-10 on three-point attempts and was 19-of-32 at the free throw line, while adding seven assists, four steals and a blocked shot for the Peacocks, who are 7-1 on the year and 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference for the first time. He was named as the GLVC’s Player of the Week for the second time this season.
