INDIANAPOLIS – 22 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) men's and women’s soccer players earned recognition on the United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Midwest Region Teams, as nominated and selected by the coaches committee.
15 women’s soccer players were named, with seven men’s players being honored with the accomplishment.
Of the 15 women’s honorees, six were named to the First Team, including the Drury duo of GLVC Goalkeeper of the Year Katy Fitzler, and midfielder Elena Perez. GLVC Offensive Player of the Year, Rockhurst forward Anna Lantz joins the duo alongside Maryville midfielder and GLVC Freshman of the Year Sophia Carter, McKendree midfielder Maggie Gleckler, and UMSL defender Taylor Martin, GLVC Defensive Player of the Year on the First Team.
On the second team for the GLVC is McKendree duo, defender Zoe Cormier and forward Maddie Mauch, UMSL defender Julie Steiger, and Rockhurst midfielder Caitlyn Smith. Third team honorees include Drury defender Anna Harris and forward Holland Hawkins, McKendree goalkeeper Peyton Baker, and Truman forward Quinn Nauman.
The seven men’s selections were accrued by three member schools. Rockhurst’s trio of GLVC Defensive Player of the Year Mattia Petricca, midfielder Kaden Cripe, and midfielder Immanuel Wayoro were joined on the First Team with the McKendree duo of defender Philipp Muehlhans and forward Adam Reiniger. Indianapolis earned two sports on the Second Team with defender Joey Longo and midfielder Alvaro Sanchez garnering the honor.
