S&T, UMSL Advance to Semifinals in GLVC Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament

ST. CHARLES, MO. – Two Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) men's basketball teams advanced to the semifinal round of the 2025 GLVC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament in St. Charles, Missouri, on the campus of Lindenwood University at the Robert F. Hyland Arena. Missouri S&T and University of Missouri-St. Louis await the winners of the last two quarterfinal games tomorrow, March 7th, to determine the matchups heading to the Championship on Sunday, March 9. 
 
Fans who will be attending March 7-9 can purchase tickets online at GLVCsports.com/tickets, and those who can't attend can watch on all GLVCSN platforms for $12 per individual game or $35 for an all-tournament pass for either the men's or women's tournament. #1 Missouri S&T 77, #8 McKendree 68

  • S&T battled for the win shooting 41.8% (23-of-55) from the field, 35.0% (7-of-20) from the arc, and 60.7% (17-of-28) from the stripe.
    • The Miners saw three players score double digits; leading the way was Andrew Young (17), Ryan Sroka (16), and Lovell Williams (11).
    • Williams and Zac Brown would both grab seven rebounds which led the team.
    • Young led the way defensively with five blocks and three steals.
    • S&T took advantage of the turnover game besting the Bearcats 13-to-17.
  • MCK utilized a 9-1 run over 4:47 in the second half.
    • Luka Mateski led the Bearcats with a game-high 28 points, and 13 rebounds.
    • Joey Niesman and Hayden Meakes were the only other Bearcats in double-digits scoring 15 and 13 points respectively.
  • This is S&Ts first GLVC quarterfinal win in their six appearances.

#2 Missouri-St. Louis 77, #7 Rockhurst 70 (OT)

  • UMSL shot 48.3% (29-of-60) from the field, 35.3% (6-of-17) from three, and 65.0% (13-of-20) from the foul line to survive a Rockhurst upset.
    • UMSL showcased three players reach double digits: Emmanuel Prospere II (26), Matt Enright (22), and Savon Wykle (11)
    • Prospere II shot 62.5% (10-of-16) from the field
  • RU won the battle on the offensive glass, not only grabbing two more offensive rebounds but also outscoring the Tritons 10-6 in second chance points.
    • RU had four scorers go into double figures with Jaylen Wesley (19), Brian Hawthorne (18), Daniel Carr (14) and Jesse White (10)
    • Carr grabbed 11 boards with Jaden Flournoy adding two steals
  • This is UMSL’s sixth GLVC quarterfinal win in their 21st appearance.
