Five Programs Earn GLVC Women’s Lacrosse Accolades

INDIANAPOLIS – Maryville University junior attacker Helen Bae, University of Indianapolis junior midfielder Olivia Bladon, Missouri Western State University senior defender Grace Williams, McKendree University sophomore goalkeeper Amber Hayden, Rockhurst University freshman defensive specialist Kylee Pickens, and Hawks’ head coach Molly McCourt have earned major postseason honors for the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women’s Lacrosse season, the league office announced on Wednesday.
 
Bae was named Attacker of the Year, Bladon earned Midfielder of the Year, Williams garnered Defender of the Year, Hayden was tabbed Goalkeeper of the Year, Pickens collected Freshman of the Year, and McCourt was dubbed Coach of the Year by her peers. In total, 57 student-athletes claimed All-Conference honors, while eight were chosen as GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship honorees for the sport and Quincy University as the team sportsmanship award winner.

Attacker of the Year: Helen Bae, Fifth Year, Maryville
  • Unanimously claims Attacker of the Year award
    • Saints have claimed the award for the third-straight year.
  • Led league in GLVC-only games for goals (34, 4.86/game), and points (45, 6.43/game), while finishing second in shots (51, 7.29/game), and draw controls (59, 8.43/game).
  • Overall placed second in draw controls per game (7.35), fourth in points per game (4.94), and fifth in goals (62, 3.65/game)
  • Placed 19th in NCAA Division II in goals and 29th in points
  • Started all 17 games for Maryville.
  • Named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week on March 3, April 14, and April 21
  • Garnered IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week on Mar. 5 and Apr. 23.
  • Earns third consecutive All-GLVC selection

Midfielder of the Year: Olivia Bladon, Junior, Indianapolis
  • Wins first Midfielder of the Year honor.
    • Second Greyhound to win award, first since Peyton Romig won in 2021 and 2022
  • Second in GLVC-only games for points (38, 5.43/game), third in goals (30, 4.2/game) third in shots (48, 6.86/game), and tenth in assists (8, 1.14/game)
  • Third overall in goals with 64 (3.76/game), as well as placing seventh in points (79, 4.65/game)
  • Ranks 15th in Division II in goals and 36th in Division II in points
  • Started all 17 games for the Greyhounds.
  • Named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week on March 24 and April 28
  • Earns second consecutive selection to All-GLVC First Team.
 
Defender of the Year: Grace Williams, Senior, Missouri Western State
  • Secures second GLVC major award for the Griffons.
    • Second year a Griffon has won Defender of the Year
  • Third in GLVC-only contests for ground balls (23, 3.29/game) and placed sixth in caused turnovers (10, 1.43/game)
  • Ranked first overall in the Conference in caused turnovers (31, 1.94/game) and ninth in ground balls (38/2.38 game).
  • Started all 16 games for MWSU.
  • Earns third All-GLVC selection and second to the First Team.

Goalkeeper of the Year: Amber Hayden, Sophomore, McKendree
  • Recieves first major award for the Bearcats
  • Led league in GLVC-only games for save percentage (.480), and saves per game (15.71)
    • Also placed second in ground balls with 31 (4.43/game).
  • Led league overall in the Conference in save percentage (.504) and saves per game (13.13), along with landing third in total ground balls (48, 3/game).
  • Started all 16 games
  • Earns first All-GLVC selection and first to the First Team.

Freshman of the Year: Kylee Pickens, Draw Specialist, Rockhurst
  • Takes home first major award honors for the Hawks
  • Led the league with 72 draw controls (10.29/game) in conference only contests
  • Led the league overall in draw controls with 155 (9.69/game).
  • Started all 16 games for Rockhurst.
  • Garnered GLVC Defensive Player of the Week on April 21
  • Lone freshman to land on All-GLVC First Team.

Coach of the Year: Molly McCourt, Rockhurst
  • Secures the second major award honor for the Hawks
  • In her ninth year with the Hawks, she managed the team to a 13-3 record, 5-2 in conference play and fourth appearance in the conference tournament
  • Her Rockhurst squad finished 15th in Division II in scoring defense, allowing only 137 goals (8.56/game) and 38th in Division II with 217 goals (13.56/game)
  • In addition to guiding Pickens to a major award and an All-GLVC selection, she mentored junior Elise Magee, and senior Paige Yehling to Second Team honors as well as, Tori Julian, Audra Yoder, Abby Gerstner, and Mae Beins to honorable mention.
 
Maryville led all league programs with five first-team choices, while six earned Honorable Mention. UIndy and Missouri Western garnered three first-team nods, while the Greyhounds saw three players land on the Second Team. The last three spots on the First Team were filled by a single representative from Rockhurst and two from McKendree.
 
The league also recognized Quincy as its GLVC Women’s Lacrosse James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award team recipient, as well as eight student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school’s two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced in May.
