Lewis Voted as Favorites for 2025 GLVC Men’s Cross Country Title

INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University was voted in the preseason coaches’ poll as the choice to win the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) men’s cross country title, the league office announced on Wednesday.

The preseason poll is selected by the league’s head coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team.
 
No. 1 Lewis
  • Received 11 first-place votes and 121 total points.
  • Won their 17th conference championship at GLVC Championship, placing runner-up at NCAA Division II Midwest Regional and 12th at NCAA Championship last season.
  • Coached by James Kearney, who enters his 15th season and was voted 2024 GLVC Coach of the Year.
  • Top-two returners include GLVC Record Holder, Runner of the Year, and All-American Evan Horgan and All-GLVC honoree Zack Dunn.
    • Horgan set a new GLVC Championship record with a time of 23:23.64 at the 2024 Championships. Horgan finished as the regional champion and placed 13th at the NCAA Championships, earning All-American status.
    • Dunn placed 17th at the GLVC Championship and 41st at the NCAA Regional in 2024.

No. 2 Drury
  • Received one first-place vote and 109 total points.
  • Finished runner-up at GLVC Championship and sixth at NCAA Division II Midwest Regional last season.
  • Coached by Luke Karamitros, who enters his second season.
  • Top-two returners include All-GLVC honorees Tyler Harris and Ethan Haynes.
    • Harris placed third overall at the GLVC Championship and 89th at the NCAA Regional in 2024.
    • Haynes placed 12th at the GLVC Championship and 119th at the NCAA Regional in 2024.
 
 No. 3 Illinois Springfield
  • Received 100 total points.
  • Placed third at the GLVC Championship, placing ninth at NCAA Division II Midwest Regional last season.
  • Coached by Emmons King, who enters his fourth season.
  • Top-two returners include All-GLVC honorees Joey Karlesky and Noah Tegeler.
    • Karlesky placed 15th at the GLVC Championship and 51st at the NCAA Regional in 2024.
    • Tegeler placed 16th at the GLVC Championship and 116th at the NCAA Regional in 2024.

No. 4 Missouri S&T
  • Received 83 total points.
  • Finished fifth at GLVC Championship and 15th at NCAA Division II Midwest Regional last season.
  • Coached by Cameron Knudsen, who enters his second season.
  • Top-two returners include All-GLVC honorees Henry Born and Andrew Bacon.
    • Born placed fifth at the GLVC Championship and 66th at the NCAA Championships in 2024.
    • Patterson placed 19th at the GLVC Championship and 38th at the NCAA Regionals in 2024.
 

Rounding out the poll respectively in fifth through 12th was Southwest Baptist (76 points), Indianapolis (75), Truman State (56), Missouri-St. Louis (52), Rockhurst (41), Maryville (39), McKendree (26, and Quincy (14).
