Grand Valley State Joins GLVC as Associate Member in Men’s Wrestling

INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced Wednesday that Grand Valley State University will join the league as an associate member in Men’s Wrestling beginning with the 2026-27 season.

A public university located in Allendale, Michigan, the Lakers will compete alongside six other full-time institutions in the league, Drury, Indianapolis, Maryville, McKendree, Quincy, and Upper Iowa.

“We are pleased to provide the Grand Valley State University men’s wrestling program with a league for their student-athletes to compete in beginning with the 2026-27 season.” said GLVC Commissioner Jim Naumovich, “GVSU also competes as an associate member of the GLVC in the sport of women’s wrestling, so adding their men’s team to the league makes sense for all parties and allows us to expand our regular season schedule with the addition of a seventh member.”

The Lakers are led by R.J. Boudro who enters his second season at the helm.

“We are grateful to the GLVC for embracing this expansion that assists in sustaining men’s wrestling across the country.” said Grand Valley State Director of Athletics Keri Becker, “We are thrilled to find a home for our men’s wrestling program with the GLVC.”

Grand Valley State is a full-time member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) and has been sponsoring wrestling since 2023 and has a record of 32-19 overall including going 9-6 last season with a 12th place finish at the National Championships, earning three All-Americans.
