Maryville, Trevecca, Quincy Collect Inaugural GLVC STUNT Major Awards

INDIANAPOLIS – Maryville senior Peyton Nembhard, Trevecca Nazarene freshman Julianna Belzeski, and Quincy head mentor Diane Shoemaker have earned major postseason awards for the first-ever Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) STUNT season, the league office announced on Thursday.

Nembhard claimed Player of the Year, Belzeski secured Freshman of the Year, and Shoemaker was dubbed Coach of the Year by her peers. In total, 36 student-athletes claimed All-Conference honors, while eight were chosen as GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship honorees for the sport.

The All-Conference awards are nominated and voted on by league coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own players.

In addition to Nembhard and Belzeski, five other student-athletes earned spots on the All-GLVC First Team. Maryville’s Emma Davis and Trevecca’s Makenzie Buff joined their teammates on the squad, along with Drury’s Cadence Harper and the Purdue Northwest duo of Addison Black and Chloe Ochman.

The league also recognized Quincy as its GLVC STUNT James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award team recipient, as well as eight student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school’s two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced in May.
