INDIANAPOLIS – Missouri S&T trio of senior outside hitter Nate Meyer, junior libero Bartosz Chmielewski, and head coach Ryan Thompson, as well as Jamestown freshman opposite hitter Chase Hawkinson and Roosevelt mentor Kelly Magliano have earned major postseason honors for the 2026 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men’s Volleyball season, the league office announced on Thursday.
Meyer was named Player of the Year, Chmielewski earned Libero of the Year, Hawkinson garnered Freshman of the Year, and Magliano and Thompson were dubbed Co-Coaches of the Year by their peers. In total, 30 student-athletes claimed All-Conference honors, while eight were chosen as GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship honorees for the sport and Jamestown was selected as the team sportsmanship award winner.
The All-Conference awards are nominated and voted on by league coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own players.
Player of the Year: Nate Meyer, Senior, Outside Hitter, Missouri S&T
- Wins first-ever Player of the Year.
- Ranks 12th in NCAA for hitting percentage (.382), 13th for points per set (4.36), and 14th for kills per set (3.71)
- Led the GLVC in points per set.
- Third in kills per set, fifth in hitting percentage, and eighth in digs (1.74)
- Third in GLVC-only matches in kills per set (3.67) and points per set (4.38).
- Fifth in hitting percentage (.403) and services aces (17).
- Won GLVC Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 20 and Jan. 26. and named Defensive Player of the Week on Jan. 20.
- Helped Miners secure the third seed in the GLVC Tournament Championship.
- Named to the All-GLVC First Team.
Libero of the Year: Bartosz Chmielewski, Junior, Missouri S&T
- Wins first-ever Libero of the Year.
- Ranks 18th in NCAA for digs per set (5.44).
- Second in the Conference in total digs (185) and fourth in the Conference in digs per set (2.23).
- Second in the Conference in total digs (113) and digs per set (2.26) in 50 GLVC sets.
- Added a .952 reception percentage.
- Helped Miners secure the third seed in the GLVC Tournament Championship.
- Named to the All-GLVC First Team.
Freshman of the Year: Chase Hawkinson, Opposite Hitter, Jamestown
- Wins first-ever Freshman of the Year.
- Placed second in the league for overall games with 336 total kills and sixth for kills per set (3.54) over 95 sets.
- Finished seventh for kills per set (3.42) and ninth for total kills (130) in GLVC contests.
- Named to the All-GLVC Second Team.
Co-Coach of the Year: Kelly Magliano, Roosevelt
- Voted by her peers as Co-Coach of the Year.
- Led the Lakers to a 16-10 overall record and 8-6 GLVC mark.
- Earned the fourth seed in the GLVC Championship Tournament.
- Magliano guided Mark Zmojdzin to All-GLVC First Team honors, along with helping four players land on the Second Team.
Co-Coach of the Year: Ryan Thompson, Missouri S&T
- Voted by his peers as Co-Coach of the Year.
- Led the Miners to a 17-6 overall record and 11-3 GLVC record.
- Mentored team to first ranked win in program history, beating No. 11 McKendree on Jan. 30.
- Earned the No. 3 seed in the GLVC Championship Tournament.
- Thompson guided Meyer and Chmielewski to their respective major awards, along with helping Meyer, setter Grant Edmonds, middle hitters Tyler Johnwick and Caleb Rohlwing, and opposite hitter Aaron Sallade to earn All-GLVC First Team accolades.
- Mentored two players to Second Team honors: Chmielewski and outside hitter Camden Seaver.
Joining the S&T quintet and Roosevelt’s Zmojdzin on the First Team were four Maryville players: libero Zac Clark, middle blocker AJ Robateau, outside hitter Makai Scott, and setter Jake Usher. The final five spots went to a pair of Quincy players, middle blocker Tomas Baden and outside hitter Barnabas Fenyvesi, and three Rockhurst student-athletes – middle hitter Aron DeRoy and outside hitters Shay Spadaro and Lucas Tran.
Jamestown earned the sport’s GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Team Award, while eight student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior were also recognized. These individuals must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees from full-time GLVC member institutions are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
