SOFTBALL CO-PITCHERS OF THE WEEK
SIU Edwardsville freshman righthander Mary Heather White registered three victories in 17 innings with a 0.82 ERA to earn Co-Pitcher of the Week honors in the GLVC. White's effort accounted for half of SIUE's victories during a 6-0 week and helped them earn the No. 1 seed in this weekend's GLVC Tournament. She struck out eight, walked three and won her ninth straight game, improving her record to 9-1. She is from Pulaski, Tennessee.
University of Southern Indiana junior righthander Shannon Emmons won two games and saved another while posting a 0.51 ERA to earn Co-Pitcher of the Week honors in the GLVC. In addition, Emmons collected nine hits in 16 at bats (.562 average) in leading her team to a 4-0 week and 12 straight victories. Emmons gave up just one run while pitching a complete game as USI defeated NAIA No. 18-ranked McKendree Collge, 6-1. She also went 2-4 from the plate in that game. She came back to throw a complete game in a 9-0 victory over Quincy. She also went 2-4 from the plate with two RBIs. She finished off the week with a save in the second game against the Hawks. She went 3-4 from the plate in that contest. For the week, Emmons struck out six batters and did not allow a single walk. She is a sociology major from Booneville, Indiana.
