Quincy Earns Top Seed in 2012 GLVC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament
The Great Lakes Valley Conference has released the bracket for the 2012 GLVC Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament. Quincy earned the No. 1 seed in the eight-team tournament and will serve as one of four hosts in the tournament’s opening-round contests, which take place this Sunday, Oct. 28. No. 2 William Jewell, No. 3 Bellarmine and No. 4 UW-Parkside will also host quarterfinal action on Sunday. MORE>>>
Each of the four quarterfinal winners will advance to the GLVC Championship Tournament, which will be hosted by the highest-seeded semifinalist on Friday, Nov. 2. Two semifinal contests will be played Friday at times to be determined, while the 2012 GLVC Championship Tournament final will take place Sunday, Nov. 4.
This season marks marks the 19th year of the GLVC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament and the eighth consecutive year that eight schools will participate in the GLVC Championship.
Former GLVC member Northern Kentucky owns a league-best eight conference titles, while UW-Parkside (4), Saint Joseph's (2), Bellarmine (1), Drury (1), Indianapolis (1) and Lewis (1) have all won crowns.
Last year, second-seeded Bellarmine captured its first-ever GLVC Championship as a result of a 2-1 advantage in penalty kicks after tying No. 4 Quincy 1-1 in double overtime.
