Maryville Set to Host the
2013 GLVC Cross Country Championships
The 2013 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Forest Park in St. Louis, Mo. Maryville University will serve as host of the event for the first time in school history.
The 2013 Cross Country Championships will open with the 30th annual women's 6,000-meter run at 12:30 p.m. CT followed by the 35th annual men's 8,000-meter run at 1:30 p.m. CT.
The top-placing men's and women's teams will be named the 2013 GLVC Champion, respectively. In addition, the top 15 men individual finishers and the top 15 women individual finishers will be named All-GLVC and the medalist of each race will be named the GLVC Runners of the Year. The top finishing freshman on both sides will garner GLVC Freshman of the Year honors.
Southern Indiana is the defending champion on the men's side having collected its eight-straight conference title and league-best 20th overall crown at the 2012 event, which was hosted by Drury at Springfield Underground, in Springfield, Mo.
On the women’s side, Southern Indiana enters this year’s event on the heels of winning the 2012 crown by 34 points over the field. The win gave the Eagles their eighth league title in program history and fourth in the past five years.
